This position will report to our Plano, TX office working a Hybrid 9/80 schedule with two days remote and three required days on-site with every other Friday off.

The Business Analyst is responsible for delivering solutions to improve the quality and dissemination of data within Denbury.

 

This role is involved in establishing and implementing corporate policies regarding creating, storing, and distributing the company's data in adherence to industry standards and best practices. The Business Analyst should serve as a liaison between the business units and IT to facilitate solutions that meet the needs of each business unit while maintaining consistency within the corporate landscape.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Document the current state flow of data within Denbury. 
  • Collaborate with business units to design and implement standards and procedures governing the collection and use of data.
  • Assist the business in constructing processes to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Lead and manage integrated projects across business units and disciplines to implement systems, processes, and standards that advance the data management strategies of the organization. 
  • Develop metrics, strategies, and tools to measure the results of data governance efforts and provide insight into refinements of the data governance initiatives.
  • Create solution requirements to facilitate data integration from multiple systems across Denbury.
  • Share expertise in the organization’s data flow and guide following data management best practices
  • Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems to the new solutions purposed to ensure successful implementation
  • Seek out inefficiencies in business and technology processes and work with IT to design solutions to optimize these areas.
  • Actively foster relationships with the business units to develop a sense of trust and cooperation.
  • Educate and train the organization on the standards, practices, and workflows.
  • Support a subset of applications within the Operations Systems Application portfolio.

Skills and Relevant Experience

 

  • Knowledge of data management principles, concepts, and technology
  • Understanding of the flow of data concerning both processes and systems
  • Ability to impact discussions in a tactful and appropriate professional manner
  • Capable of multitasking and working on a wide range of projects simultaneously 
  • Willing to share technical and functional expertise with peers
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, fully assess problems, and develop effective solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Skills and Relevant Experience

 

  • Familiarity with oil and gas data, mainly geological and engineering nomenclature, production, operations, and drilling data
  • Experience with Procount, FDG, Aries, Wellview, SAP, Spotfire, OVS, and Petra is all preferred.
  • Familiarity with concepts of relational, graph, and NoSQL databases
  • Emphasis on embracing and championing change for driving efficiency.
  • Analytical skills
  • SQL Server DDL and DML

Environmental and Physical Requirements

 

  • Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. 
  • The position requires the ability to communicate information frequently and manage an office environment's possible stress. 
  • Work may include being stationary for long periods, with occasional movement about the office. 
  • The ability to lift to 35 pounds is required. 
  • The position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
