Director, Reservoir Engineering

Denbury, Inc, located in Plano Texas, has an opening for Director of Reservoir Engineering, reporting to Senior Vice President of Business Development & Technology.  Denbury utilizes a matrix organization with dedicated technology groups that support development projects, as well a,s the technical aspects of the ongoing operations within the Business Units.  The Director of Reservoir Engineering directly manages the Reservoir Technology group and supplies oversight to all reservoir engineering functions across Denbury.  Additionally, the Director of Reservoir Engineering will provide technical assurance for the emerging Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS) business.

 
The job responsibilities are focused on delivering asset support on a broad range of reservoir challenges including field development, production optimization, and the evaluation of new and emerging technologies.  
The position will interface with key internal stakeholders, including Business Unit Asset Teams, Development Design, Corporate Reserves, Corporate Planning, and the new CCUS group. The Reservoir Engineering Director will be a subject matter expert in the field of Reservoir Engineering with a well-developed network both inside and outside the industry.

 

Denbury is an energy company with the primary focus on CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery.  The Director of Reservoir Engineering will have demonstrated competencies in classical reservoir engineering practices, as well as, numerical simulation with an emphasis on miscible gas injection and fluid characterization.


The Director of Reservoir Engineering also plays integral role in the career development of Reservoir and Production engineers across Denbury and is responsible for developing technical training curriculum and maintaining the technical training budget.   The successful candidate will have a demonstrated passion for the development of technical talent and mentorship of young professionals.

 

Required Skills & Abilities

Educational/Industry Requirements

•  Minimum BS in Engineering, advanced degree in Petroleum Engineering preferable.

•  20+ years active industry experience.

•  Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

•  Willingness and ability to train and utilize technical aides.

•  Mentoring skills

•  Lead integrated field studies

•  Design improved oil recovery floods from conception through implementation

•  Well versed in Decision Risk Analysis process

•  Understanding of continuous improvement

•  Help develop technical vision for the company

•  Good team and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team.

•  Prioritize work and focus efforts to deliver value.

•  Independent, self-motivated, organized, creative and results oriented.

•  Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work directly with all levels of personnel, including executive management and Board of Directors.
