Job Summary
Denbury is currently seeking a Geologist to support Denbury’s Texas asset base, including conventional and CO2 EOR assets. As part of Denbury’s Gulf Coast Business Unit, they will be expected to collaborate daily on a multidisciplinary team, work independently on assigned tasks, effectively communicate their work to the team, and provide constructive feedback to others. High preference will be given to a candidate with previous experience in CO2 or mature waterflood management, reservoir characterization, and production operations. The opening is an in-person position at our corporate office in Plano, Texas.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate on a multidisciplinary team to manage Denbury’s existing conventional and EOR fields.
- Integrate data from hundreds of wells into a comprehensive understanding of the reservoir architecture, trends, and remaining oil-in-place.
- Perform well correlation, mapping, stratigraphic and structural analysis, reservoir characterization, and volumetric assessment (deterministic and probabilistic).
- Integrate existing 3D and 4D seismic interpretations into a comprehensive history of CO2 sweep efficiency and remaining oil in place.
- Explore and evaluate behind-pipe and new exploitation opportunities in our existing acreage holdings.
- Deliver final assessments with an evaluation of relative uncertainties and associated geologic risks.
- Perform all necessary analysis and data required to regulatory bodies for continuing field operations and new project permits.
- Collaborate on geomodel creation, simulation history matching, development scenarios and economic optimization of new development projects.
- Facilitate well planning activities, including reservoir target identification, evaluation of directional drilling plans, and the creation of geological prognoses.
- Participate in weekly team pattern reviews to manage injection targets and identify capital development opportunities.
- Collaborate effectively with field personnel during regular operations calls, semi-annual well reviews in the Houston area, and on an as-needed basis.
- Provide mentoring to junior staff.

- Well log, core, and petrophysical analysis
- CO2 EOR and/or mature waterflood projects
Additional Skills and Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in conventional hydrocarbon assessment/development roles
- Knowledge of stratigraphy, depositional systems, and structural styles of the Gulf Coast Region preferred. Frio experience a plus
- Experience with Petra, Kingdom, and/or Petrel preferred
- English language proficiency required
