Job Summary

 

Join our team as a Controller and remotely monitor and control our pipeline facility's safe operation using a state-of-the-art SCADA system. Job Responsibilities

 

  • Controller is a qualified individual who remotely monitors and controls the safety-related operation of the pipeline facility via a SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) from a pipeline control room and who is responsible for the safe operation of the pipeline utilizing remote operational functions. 
  • Controller is responsible for maintaining documentation associated with daily operations, including details of pipeline operations, significant events, and communications with field technicians.
  • Controller needs to understand and be able to participate in a detailed Emergency Response Plan
  • Controller must be capable of taking all steps necessary in an emergency to protect personnel and ensure the safe operation of the pipelines up to and including shutting down the pipeline.
  • Monitor pipeline network flows, pressures, and product purities using the SCADA system
  • Monitor the operation of the pipeline, balancing supply and demand.
  • Monitor the SCADA display and alarm screens and respond to regular operational changes across the system.
  • Communicate with field technicians to ensure the controller understands routine maintenance activities in the field before work is done where it can impact the pipeline's safe operation.
  • Controller must have good communication skills. Much of the job is spent communicating with internal and external customers via phone and e-mail.
  • Position consists of rotating 12-hour shifts, including day and night, weekends, and holidays; work schedule required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Skills and Relevant Experience

 

  • Five years of operations experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone
  • Military experience is a plus
  • Good computer skills are required to facilitate Microsoft Office applications
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures
  • Ability to make decisions independently when required

Education

 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two year Associate Degree in a technical field is a plus but not required

Environmental and Physical Requirements

 

  • Must be willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment.
  • The position requires communicating information frequently and managing an office environment's possible stress.
  • Work may include being stationary for long periods, with occasional movement about the office.
  • The ability to lift to 35 pounds is required.
  • The position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
