Job Summary
Denbury is currently seeking a Production Engineer to oversee wellwork operations, daily field operations, and perform reservoir management duties for assets located in southeastern Montana’s Cedar Creek Anticline (CCA) fields. The job will be based in Denbury’s corporate office located in Plano, Texas.
The role consists of joining a team of production engineers to manage 14 assets in CCA with production averaging ~7,650 BOEPD and includes a total well count measuring ~1300, of which more than 465 are active wells. The current mode of operations is conventional waterflooding with future CO2 EOR development. Wellwork interventions average ~290 annually and includes 95% producer artificial lift repairs and 5% mechanical integrity repairs on WIW/SWD wells.
The position will report to the CCA Asset Team Leader and is best filled by an individual with interests/exposure to wellwork, artificial lift optimization, reservoir management, and daily field operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the business unit owner and point of contact for all assigned assets.
- Lead Denbury’s efforts to promote health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout all operations.
- Work with Plano and field team members to manage full field performance and development including production wells, flowlines/gathering systems, facilities, and injection/disposal wells.
- Collaborate daily with the following field teams (production, optimization, and workover).
- Create and maintain workover LOE and production budgets throughout the year reforecasting variances as necessary.
- Understand all LOE drivers and assist the field team to forecast, maintain, and improve as needed.
- Repair and optimize all artificial lift designs (rod and ESP). Diagnose Root Cause Failures, derive options for corrections, evaluate economics, execute corrective plans, and perform lookbacks to improve systematic/reoccurring issues.
- Coordinate remedial services using wireline, coil tubing, and workover rig operations including logging, perforating, clean outs, (acid/solvent/polymer/fracture) stimulations, cement squeezes, plugbacks etc.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Generate well surveillance monitor programs to ensure asset integrity and meet company standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and present multi-disciplinary projects to management to maximize portfolio value.
- Exceed investment hurdles, perform sensitivity analysis, effectively communicate major drivers.
- Drive the execution of all asset projects. Manage timelines and bridge all gaps between field operations, land, legal, regulatory, design and development, ops excellence, and fellow business unit teammates (geologist/facility/reservoir).
- Utilize/train/work-with engineering techs to improve efficiency in all workflows, processes, and data analytics.
- Strong team and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize work and focus efforts to deliver value.
- Independent, self-motivated, organized, creative and results oriented.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey practical concepts and relevant information to all levels of personnel, including executive management.
Skills and Relevant Experience
- 3+ yrs. experience in Production, Operations, and/or Reservoir Engineering in the oil & gas industry.
- Experience with Wellview, AFE Navigator, Spotfire, Cygnet, ARIES, DSS, Petra, IFM (MBal, Prosper, GAP), and the full suite of Microsoft Office tools preferred.
Education
- BS degree in Engineering with a preference in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
