Job Summary
Denbury is currently seeking a Reservoir Engineer to oversee the field development and reservoir management duties for the Wyoming assets. This group of assets consists of three CO2 floods, a waterflood and various conventional fields. Production for the area averages ~7,500 BOEPD with over 700 active wells. The job will be based in Denbury’s corporate office located in Plano, Texas.
The Reservoir Engineer will perform all reservoir engineering activities on the assigned fields including identification and execution of development opportunities, building and maintaining reserves forecasts, and supporting operations engineers with technical assessments. Throughout the year, the Reservoir Engineer will re-forecast and report results against plan as needed.
The position will report to the Wyoming-Bell Creek Asset Leader of the North Business Unit (NBU) and would best be filled by an individual with a robust engineering skillset with an emphasis in reservoir management, production optimization, integrated field modeling (IFM), and generating reserves cases for current and future development plans. Proven reservoir engineering experience in CO2 EOR operations is a strong plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Work in a multi-discipline asset team to develop and manage production in tertiary CO2 floods and waterflood/conventional fields.
- Generate capital projects to develop PNP, PUD, and PRB reserves to maximize the value of the assets.
- Serve as the point-of-contact for the Development & Design, Business Development and Technology, and Exploitation teams in the design and execution of development plans.
- Coordinate efforts and bridge gaps between different departments of the company (HSE, regulatory, wells/drilling, facilities, etc.).
- Effectively communicate reservoir management strategy and development plans with the Field team. Participates in daily operations calls to ensure optimal field performance.
- Prepare and defend reserves and long-range plan (LRP) for area of responsibility.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Prepare, defend, and update production budgets and forecasts for area of responsibility.
- Work with Plano and Field team members to develop, manage, and optimize production by analyzing the entire system, utilizing the components of IFM and Decision Modeling.
- Monitor production/injection/disposal well performance and conduct reservoir surveillance to develop action plans to maximize the value of the assets.
- Assist geologists to prepare reservoir descriptions through well log, core, well performance, and well test analyses.
- Train and utilize engineering technicians to improve efficiency and effectiveness in performing reservoir management and optimization activities.
- Exceptional team and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize work and focus efforts to deliver value. Effectively manage and execute tasks that are important but not necessarily urgent.

- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey practical concepts and relevant information to all levels of personnel, including executive management.
Skills and Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 5 years reservoir engineering experience.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated understanding of project economics.
- Experience with ARIES, DSS, Petra, Spotfire, and IPM (MBal, Prosper, GAP) strongly preferred.
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering a plus or equivalent work experience in the oil and gas industry.

Environmental and Physical Requirements
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
