Job Summary
Denbury is currently seeking a Reservoir/Production Engineer to oversee the field development and reservoir management duties for Riley Ridge, a helium asset in Big Piney, WY. The role will be based in Denbury’s corporate office located in Plano, Texas. Denbury offers a hybrid work from home schedule as well as a 9/80 schedule.
The Reservoir/Production Engineer will perform injection and production modeling and simulation, assist with permitting efforts, and conduct corporate processes including long range planning and reserves. The role will also encompass some production engineering responsibilities including managing wellwork activities and assisting with production budgets and lease operating expense (LOE) forecasts.
The position will report to the Riley Ridge Asset Leader within the Business Development and Technology Department.
Job Responsibilities
- Work in a multi-discipline team to develop a large helium resource.
- Generate development plan to maximize PV10 and oversee project development and execution.
- Prepare and defend reserves and long-range plan (LRP) for area of responsibility.
- Maintain corporate processes by preparing, updating, and tracking capital, lease operating expense (LOE), production budgets and forecasts, and reserves for area(s) of responsibility.
- Prepare and manage wellwork activities including well cleanouts, cement squeezes, stimulations, coiled tubing operations, wireline/slickline operations, etc., and artificial lift optimization projects.
- Work with Plano and Field team to identity key risks and solutions related to various aspects of overall project development
- Once developed, monitor production/injection/disposal well performance and conduct reservoir surveillance to develop action plans to maximize the value of the asset.
- Assist geologists to prepare reservoir descriptions through well log, core, well performance, and well test analyses.

Additional Skills and Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years Reservoir Engineering experience; production engineering history a plus.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated understanding of project economics
- Experience with ARIES, WellView, Cygnet, IHS, OFM, Petra, Spotfire, and IFM (MBal, Prosper, GAP) strongly preferred.
Education
Minimum B.S. in Petroleum Engineering or 10 years with an E&P operating company demonstrating petroleum engineering skills.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
