Senior Human Resources Business Partner

Denbury has an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Business Partner to join the corporate office operations in Plano, Texas. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added services to management and employees that reflect the organization's business objectives.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Consults with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with respective business units as the Human Resources SME.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provide guidance and input on business workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives have been met.
  • Support HR Service Center helpdesk.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills & Abilities


  • Minimum of eight years of professional HR experience
  • Experience working with senior management teams to ensure processes and policies are followed consistently and fairly in compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulations.
  • Experience successfully resolving employee complaints.
  • Experience conducting employee relations investigations.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred


Environmental & Physical Demands

Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. The position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and manage an office environment's possible stress. Work may include being stationary for long periods, with occasional movement about the office. The ability to lift to 20 pounds is required. The position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
