Job Summary

Denbury has a current opening for a Sr Process Engineer in our corporate offices located in Plano, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting the CO2 Pipeline Transportation Business Unit through hydraulic modeling for expansion scenarios of Denbury’s CO2 transmission pipeline system.  Current system comprised of ~750 miles in Gulf Coast and ~330 miles in Rockies Region.
  • Supporting the Carbon Capture Use and Storage (CCUS) Business Unit by advising on CO2 product specification impacts to the CO2 pipeline system, including providing processing solutions to clean up contaminants (H2S, N2, CH4+, NOX/SOX, methanol, H2, etc).
  • Supporting the Acquisitions Group with technical evaluations of CO2 capture technology investment opportunities.
  • Supporting the Project Management Group (~5 Project Managers) with management of process engineering scope/schedule/budgets through use of 3rd-party engineering contractors to execute a Capital program of ~$100MM/yr.
  • Supporting Oil and Gas Production Business Unit Facilities Engineers (~10 Field Engineers) with troubleshooting and optimization of existing assets including both conventional gravity separation, NGL extraction, water flood, and CO2 enhanced oil recovery facilities.
  • Travel will vary with project type and project phase (one trip per quarter anticipated).

 

Position has potential to grow into a management position with future growth of Process Engineering group (as business plan/needs dictate).

 

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in multiple weekly Capital project meetings
  • Work with Denbury project management
  • Work with Denbury facility engineers
  • Work with 3rd Party Engineering firms (Process Engineering focus)
  • Generate scopes of work for 3rd Party Engineering firms
  • Review 3rd Party Engineering firm deliverables
  • Assist with project development design concepts, cost estimates, schedules
  • Support the utilization, development and implementation of standards, processes, and procedures related to Process Engineering topics

Skills and Relevant Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Experience in Hydraulic Modeling
  • Experience in Process Simulation
  • Working knowledge of ANSI/ASME, DOT and API codes as related to the oil & gas industry (B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 14C, CFR 192/195, etc)
  • Experience with and understanding Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Heat and Material Balance (H&MB), Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s), Plot Plans, and Pipeline Alignment Sheets
  • Experience with Process Risk Assessments (what-if, PHA, HAZOP, etc)
  • Experience with Process Controls
  • Experience with Corrosion Control
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated understanding of project economics (NPV, Lifecycle Analysis, CAPEX vs OPEX options analysis)

Education

  • Minimum B.S. in Chemical Engineering from ABET accredited institution
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently

Environmental and Physical Requirements

  • Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment
  • Travel to oil and gas production facilities (lower 48) 
  • Wearing of personal protective equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required.
  • Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding
  • Oral communication over the phone and in person
