The Lead Operator is responsible for the day-to-day activities in their areas of responsibility. The Lead Operator will ensure that all well-checking and reporting activities are conducted safely and cost-effectively. The Lead Operator will focus on a time horizon of daily through one month and report issues and opportunities beyond their accountability in support of the Region's targets and goals.



  • Work within a team structure to meet the performance objectives for the specific areas of responsibility. 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the required tasks and any contractors associated with work within their area of responsibility.
  • Supports LOE optimization efforts across fields assigned to
  • Ensures proper oversight and coverage of day-to-day operations by maintaining an operations team schedule
  • Trains and Mentors Operations team personnel in activities and processes.
  • Act as in-field lead on small projects to maintain base load production
  • Own and accountable for the deliverance of Company HSE goals in their areas of responsibility
  • Promotes and participates in safe, effective, and cost-efficient operations in the alignment of the Region's annual budgets, plans, HSE, and company standards
  • Complete the required training and coaching to enable them to perform at the highest level.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert on operating and production reporting procedures
  • Responsible for well locations, right of ways, and facilities.
  • Responsible for the One-Call notification process.
  • Supports work activities of all crafts.
  • Provides leadership and direction and communicates job requirements to the operators
  • Utilize the MOC system where changes are needed.
  • Utilize SAP to manage their area of responsibility by using SAP's PM and CM work order process.
  • Participate in incident and operational upset investigations, working with operations and maintenance functions.
  • Implement appropriate controls for critical intervention activities to minimize a loss of containment risk.
  • Utilize the Safe Work practices to ensure compliance with processes.
  • Ensure that their areas of responsibility comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintenance planning, plant reliability, and turnaround activities.


Required Skills & Abilities


Environmental & Physical Demand

Work will be conducted in Denbury's oil production fields and field offices, including well locations, pipelines, flow lines, and possibly remote areas. Work may require the ability to function and move within a physically and mentally demanding environment with the capacity to carry equipment weighing up to 35 pounds. The position will require the use and wearing of personal protective equipment.

Candidate must be medically cleared to don full-face respiratory protection and complete "Pass" the annual Fit Testing requirements by the Company's Respiratory Protection Program.
